Choosing the right breeder is just as important as choosing the right puppy

Be aware of the red flags!

If a breeder doesn't have a website, doesn't ask you to complete a puppy application form or seems more interested in taking your money than finding the right home, we encourage you to think twice.

Pay attention to how the puppies are being raised. Are they living and playing in a clean, safe environment? Do they have access to fresh water, appropriate food and clean, suitable food and water bowls?

Look at their grooming. Is the fur around their eyes kept tidy so they can see clearly? If a breeder is neglecting basic grooming and hygiene, this should raise serious concerns about the care their puppies are receiving.

If a breeder isn't taking care of the little things, you should be asking yourself how much attention they're giving to the bigger things, such as health, socialisation, and overall welfare.

A responsible breeder should take pride in their dogs, maintain a clean environment, and genuinely care about the homes their puppies are going to.

A puppy is a lifelong commitment, not just a sale.
